Coming home from work today just as one got near our building there was an auto accident ( a series of parked vehicles were hit by an out of control one).

Naturally everyone and their mother whipped out the phones and began calling NYPD (and taking pictures). This was at 5:30PM. Po-Po just arrived a few minutes ago a nearly 7PM. By now at least two of the cars hit packed it up and left. Only the driver of the most damaged vehicle and the person driving the one that hit them all remained.

If no one was injured and it was not affecting traffic it would be classified as a property crime and non-urgent.

Ok. which precinct did the accident occur in? You may not think this is a big deal or even relevant, but depending on the precinct, the "Po-Po" could have been tied up with more pressing matters (assault, robbery, missing person, etc). Some precincts will be holding "jobs" due to the heavy demand of more pressing matters. Which would you pick first. A vehicle accident with no injuries or a robbery with an injured victim? The injured victim comes first. Unfortunately, some precincts are non-stop from the time you come on, till the time you end.
