check your lease, it should have language that allows family to live there.
Adding him to the stock and lease however would require approval of the board

is there a mortgage? adding anyone to the stock certificate but not to the mortgage even a spouse can be a bad move down the road if the marriage doesn't work out.

No, you don't need permission. Years ago I consulted with the city about related language on a lease, and was told that by law you're permitted to have someone move in with you.

However, since you presumably want to be a model resident, you will naturally write a letter to your Board to inform then. Then you'll have to decide if you want to append his name legally.

Yes, you can move him into the apartment that you own. I would advise the Board and the super so that they know he belongs there.

It always comes down to the bylaws of the co-op. Remember that you are a shareholder who owns shares and the co-op "lets you" reside there assuming you abide by those rules.

I use to live in a strict co-op...everyone who lives there must have their names added as a resident....even short term visitors. In my case, its usually the doorman who is very aware of who lives there & who doesn't. This helps minimize the subletting or having people who shouldn't be staying there

After all, you wouldn't want him shot down in the lobby.
