903* ...I know it's terrible but there's a minute chance.. I already have the cdl..If it's 1:6 rule im in
Uh buddy you need more of a 1:8 ratio if you think you have a chance. They went through 5880 list numbers in 7 years. They aren't going to go through 3100+ in one year. There's being realistic and then there's being blissfully ignorant. Good luck though.

you're right about the 1 in 6 (approx) if they hire 500 , unfortunately it's very unlikely but you never know with the city. i hope you took the new test. good luck
DSNY never gets a schedule, ever. We all get our orders day to day, even with seniority it's day to day, sure but gets steadier with seniority but they could sill change your shift at anytime up to 1:30 the day before. Some people get steady shifts depending on their function or work location but the majority of guys are a day to day schedule.
Y'all got it bad! Lol. In the TA around every 6 months you get to "pick" Which route and tour you want based off of your seniority, or you can go XX for the $$.
That's why (yeah it's an awesome job) I wouldn't want to rush to get into DSNY. I'd use this down time waiting for my list # as a "vacation", because once you're in it's time to nut up or shutup.

You guys have an 18 month probation too?
It's not too bad you get used to it, I will say the one thing I don't like is how the scheduling works, but with some seniority it starts to level off. And yeah 18mo probation. Even with the schedule I still think this is the best job I've ever had, I love it here, and I think it's one of the best if not the best city job you could get
Any word on how many in that class? And how many they're gonna hire in total?
