Read the 6063 thread from start to finish, there's plenty of useful info there..
Why are people hoping for hiring list extensions? You realize why that actually happened? Highest unemployment levels in decades, people losing their 401ks and investments, banks with zero interest saving accounts. What happened with 6063 was rare and probably and hopefully won't happen again. Unless of course you want all that to happen again..

There are other reasons I'm sure, remember Dcas administers all lists for all city agencies, but all in all list extensions are in fact very rare and usually only happen for a reason not because anyone feels like that should happen. There are actual laws that need to be followed.

Go back a few pages, it was hilarious. Wanted he job so bad, then someone told him he's not in hiring range, and all of a sudden , Good, I don't even want it, you sanman are all lazy and do nothing, I'm richer than you'll ever be, I own building and make millions, this job is for losers etc etc. quite comical.
