Thanks Mikfleye.

Last question for now...
Since nypd, fdny, doc have their own gyms, how is it for dsny? You have gyms in your garages as well?

Yes. Any shift in which 4 or more of the hours worked fall between 3pm and 5am. So technically any shift from 11am-7pm to 1am-9am would earn it. Though we don't have all possible shifts except for odd events. But if we did they'd be eligible

All garages are supposed to have some form of equipment but the actual size and assortment of equipment varies tremendously by garage. I've seen ones that look like an actual gym and one that had a weight bench and one machine

You will bounce all over the 5 boroughs during the day. You might be Brooklyn today, Manhattan tomorrow, Bronx the next day. Wherever they need you until you get enough seniority to force junior guys out. But that's 6am-2pm

You cannot go out of town after a night shift. So if you're midnight to 8am , you're reporting to your garage the next day. Round robins will happen in your assigned location only. (Granted once you sign in they could transport you anywhere in the city to actually work. But who cares, you're on the clock at that point.)

Couple questions about the dmv road test...some of these may be stupid so bare with me.

1. The road test includes pre-trip inspection and the actual driving itself, correct?
2. Is the road test similar to a class d road test? ex. parallel parking, k-turn, etc. What does the road test specifically consist of?
3. Are you hooked up to a trailer if you're doing Class A? If so, how long is the trailer? and what kind of trailer? Or is it just the truck?
4. When you schedule the road test does the dmv provide a truck for you?
5. If you end up doing the test in a manual truck and you stall, do you automatically fail?
6. Since the majority of new guys get dumped in the bronx, how come they don't just move to the bronx to be closer to work? How come nobody wants to work in the bronx? I feel like that would be the easiest place to get a steady schedule early on in your career. Yes? No? Are Staten Islander really that scared to leave the island?
7. Will a college degree help you with any promotions later in your dsny career?

Thanks in advance for replies. Glad the thread is back on track.
