Since the sky-high unemployment rates are known, why is NYC leadership doing so little to train and help black men gain employment? Which steps should the city take to help this group?

Yeah, it is all the city/state/national/international societies fault for black man's problems, LOL.
Sorry unemployed black dudes, the world is not doing its job to provide custom made job opportunities that mold right into your job needs and skill sets.

Do you think NYC leadership should offer special job training programs to black men who reside in the boroughs? If the city doesn't do anything, the crime rate in the areas with the highest levels of unemployment may very well explode.

A lot/most black men/women that i know of are emplyed. those who are not probably choose not to work but fool around in the ghettos. nothing the city does could turn them around unless you raise the punishment severity for crimes, big or small.

Did you even look at the data? Why discuss your personal anecdotes? The researchers have found that in West Brooklyn alone, the unemployment rate amongst black men is 46%!

from what i know, blacks in west bkln are concentrated in the redhook ghetto. take a stroll there one day and you will understand why the # is higher than the norm.
We'll here is another one. Unemployment in NYC is running 18% for unskilled labor with no high school diploma and 5.4 % for college grads.
Very telling indeed, but 18% unemployment for unskilled labor is better than the black male unemployment rates in West Brooklyn, Harlem/Washington Heights, Central and South Bronx, Central Brooklyn, East Brooklyn, Staten Island and Southeast Queens, since the rates in these areas are above 20%.
It's probably double. I always take what the official stats say and double it for the REAL numbers.
To be honest, I think it's actually more than double, but NYC is doing better than many other parts of the country.
I agree, but if you add double to the black unemployment rate in West Brooklyn, the rate becomes 92%!
