Either way, it's time for a nursing home. After 51 years, time to give up.

I had a neighbor old lady horder who had clothes and newspapers stuffed from floor to the ceiling. When she died, her windows had to be broken from the outside to remove all the trash. And the smell was so bad, even the workers could not stand it.
If 4 lawyers quit, and 2 say she could not be reached and was non compliant to me that indicates she is a nutjob.

As for the old lady hoarder, if things get that bad with a neighbor call adult protective services. Actually for an immediate fire hazard call the fire department. Old hoarders endanger everyone in the building (fire hazard).

I read that. That's part of the stupidity.

The woman and her husband are now "holdover" tenants, thus unless things have changed her RC/RS protections are over. Landlord does not have to "offer" her or them anything to "move" as they are over a barrel due to the stipulation agreement. It cannot be a case of simple non-payment as that would fall under another type of L&T action.

No one has explained and cannot find information as to why the tenant "agreed" to the stipulation surrendering her RS/RC rights and became a "holdover". Whomever drew that thing up ought to be shot. Especially as it seems the tenant did not understand the magnitude of what she was doing. Why a judge approved it is another thing as well.

Am going to guess this is yet another case of a LL wanting to reclaim an apartment with goal of obtaining market rent or sell for today's prices. That part of Riverside Drive was a crime ridden dump not that long ago but now units command very decent prices.

This. I work for a guardianship lawyer. He is often appointed guardian for old people like this. most of them are extremely hard to deal with. For all those lawyers to resign, something is not right.

My boss has to submit an annual accounting to the court each year accounting for how the money is spent, in the guardianships. They cannot just take whatever money they feel like, the court scrutinizes everything, and he will get personally surcharged should any expenses look questionable.

Landlords don't "worship the almighty green." Landlords have expenses.

A landlord cannot legally stop providing a tenant with heat, water, maintenance -- yet the landlord must pay for these services. The landlord must also pay for liability insurance in case a tenant or tenant's guests are injured on the property. The landlord must also pay for fire insurance, property taxes and fees.

People want landlords to permit tenants to live in their buildings for free, as though it costs the landlord nothing. Really, they want the landlord to pay for the tenant's upkeep, while depriving the landlord of the rental income to be able to do so.

If YOU don't "worship the almighty green," why don't YOU pay for other people's rent?
