Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota?
Duluth, Minnesota?
Fargo, North Dakota?
Kansas City, Missouri?

Fly-over country? Hick towns? Peaceful places? Never heard of them?

I am from a rural area just outside Duluth and the question I got asked by strangers most in NYC is "where is your accent from?"

Please record a short video with your phone, upload it to Youtube and post the link. You don't have to film yourself -- you can even point the camera toward a wall, just as long as your voice is in it. Then we can give you more feedback on your accent

I have heard good things about Minneapolis and Kansas City, nothing at all about Duluth, and only have heard of Fargo because of the movie. I might be interested in visiting Minneapolis but not so much the other three areas.

Supposed to have people built like "little houses" according to Vogue editor, Anna Wintour. Other than this little tidbit, I doubt NYers care about this city.

Supposed to be great pay for digging up oil, MickyD's pays $15 an hour, but no matter how broke or unemployed some people I know are, they have NO DESIRE to get work in this region. They're like "That's okay. I'm good." And these are big dudes too.

You're actually thinking of Williston on the western side of ND, a 400 miles' drive from Fargo (thankfully, you can drive it in about 6 hours because of the lack of congestion on highways in "flyover" country...at least in the summer!)

Thanks, but no men I know want to go out there to work. I really do look at them like "Why the hell not?!!" I heard you can get up to $30 an hour on the rigs and the bigger you are, the more in demand. They even forgo certain criminal background checks as long as it's not anything like murder or anything too serious. I read this a couple of years ago on some article promoting it.

I swear to God that if I was a man I would NEVER not have a paycheck, because there are sooooooo many types of jobs they could do that I can't. I would have BEEN drove or caught a bus out to ND to start working. As a man, I could live in my car and clean up at a gas station or something.

LOL these responses.

I'v had the luck to visit a lot of places in my life. And what I have noticed is that, many people in NY think its far supererior to all other places. Truth is, there are a lot of great places out there. Everyone has their own opinion. But I know a few other places that I would rather live, but until I retire, I will need to stay put. Oops, I veered off the topic again...

Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota? I finally understood that "Minnesota Nice" thing here. The downtown was nice. The people were nice. The lakes were nice. The food was nice. Everything was nice. I couldn't wait to get out of there.
Duluth, Minnesota? Never been, never thought of it, never cared about it.
Fargo, North Dakota? I was actually there once and visited the tiny little Roger Maris Hall of Fame. Woo hoo! And better yet it was during the opening of walleye season. A feast of bland fish and childhood baseball memories
Kansas City, Missouri? I always think, what's the difference between this and Kansas City Kansas? I never knew. I don't think anyone in New York really knows either. Does KC really have good barbecue? And which KC do the Royals and Chiefs play in?

Duluth is an important international seaport with stunning topography:
