Celebrating Christmas alone in New York City (movies, restaurant)

Anybody have any lonely Christmas stories? Or stories when you were alone on other holidays ??was it fun was it boring? Thoughts!!

One of the great things about this city is that you can find a christmas and new year's party for any group of people via the internet. You don't have to be alone even if you're broke.

I used to spend Christmases alone. At first it was a little lonely, but then it was fun when I realized that in many cases the people who were with their families were actually jealous of me. I was younger, so I'd go out on Christmas Eve (the bars/clubs were busy surprisingly) and have a great time. The next day I'd wander the semi-empty streets, watch movies and the rest of the day take calls from family. I generally hang out with a few friends every Christmas now.

Plenty of things to do when one is alone on Christmas in NYC such as go to eat at an Asian restaurant or go see a movie.

There are some great volunteer opportunities throughout the holidays. In addition to helping make another family's christmas very special (and even just possible) it's a great way to feel 'not alone.'
