Problem: Bed bugs. News stories say they are spreading like wildfire in all the big cities in the US.
Answer: DDT. It's cheap and it's effective ... but it's banned. Why? Rachel Carson's 1962 book 'Silent Spring' -- which has since been comprehensively debunked, many times over. But Ruckelshaus banned DDT back in the 70's (could environmental activism and 'green' politics have had anything to do with his decision?) and nobody has done anything since to un-ban it.
We need a campaign to get DDT un-banned. Sure, there are a few blogs and books around, but nothing has been done to bring the matter to wider public attention. Except maybe there has, because on Friday a new movie/documentary is premiering in NY (Quad Cinema, W.13 St) that claims to have new evidence that DDT is safe and proof as to why it was really banned.
