Problem: Bed bugs. News stories say they are spreading like wildfire in all the big cities in the US.

Answer: DDT. It's cheap and it's effective ... but it's banned. Why? Rachel Carson's 1962 book 'Silent Spring' -- which has since been comprehensively debunked, many times over. But Ruckelshaus banned DDT back in the 70's (could environmental activism and 'green' politics have had anything to do with his decision?) and nobody has done anything since to un-ban it.

We need a campaign to get DDT un-banned. Sure, there are a few blogs and books around, but nothing has been done to bring the matter to wider public attention. Except maybe there has, because on Friday a new movie/documentary is premiering in NY (Quad Cinema, W.13 St) that claims to have new evidence that DDT is safe and proof as to why it was really banned. Here's a link to the movie theater ...

moms are scared of vaccinating their kids, and lawsuits-a-plenty are a major risk for any entity (govt.) that plans to unban a chemical "previously known to cause harm." usa is a lawsuit happy nation so simply banding together to work this thing out wouldn't work.

I remember running behind DDT spray trucks in Brooklyn in the 1960s breathing in the sweet smelling fog of chemicals

Gee. Still alive

So siningspring,

Do you have a financial connection to the movie, the Quad Cinema, or any potential producers of DDT?
