and if you dont believe there is corruption in housing court go there a few times and you will see what goes on. like i said god tenants and good landlords pay the price. bad landlords and bad tenants win. i cannot afford a lawyer so i got screwed and I paid my rent every month even after the DOB stated the buildingwas illegal conversion I let the court decide if we should continue they stated no but we all haveto leave in 30 days and thelandlord gets away with his actions and will do it again i hope for this scumbag he gets a scumbag tenant in
I was speaking to a friend of mine the other day he was telling me his Daughter rented to a woman she paid first month and a deposit she went to collect on the January 2nd and the woman told her F U, I'm not paying you rent, take me to court I know my rights. To top it off a few days later she saw an eviction notice for this woman who lived at her previous address, the Post office forwarded it to the new address.
I'm all for tenants rights, but there is a point that a Landlord has rights as well and shouldn't have to be abused in such a manner.
Both parties should have rights as a tenant i believe in paying your rent each month on time and expect my LL to show respect. what makes me sick is the housing court favors both bad tenants and bad landlords the good tenants and good landlords get screwed they got justice backwards
