Gothamist commenters were ragging on a new BEC place called....BEC. The comments mentioned breakfast sandwiches with runny yolks which sounds pretty damn good to me. In my twenty-whatever years living in NYC I've never had a breakfast sandwich with runny yolks. Is that how certain places serve them all the time or do I just order it that way from wherever I get my breakfast sandwich? Any recommendations in Manhattan (preferably UES)?
All you have to do is order the egg "over easy". Any place that serves any type of fried eggs or egg sandwiches will understand. "Over easy bacon soft" I always say. Never have a problem anywhere.I don't think it's a NY thing either. They will understand in a diner in Dubuque. What planet are you from ?
No runny yolk for me on a sandwich, just when fried on a plate
Yes,eating a runny egg sandwich is sort of an art.You have to get the hang of it.You are already 1/2 way there if you like runny eggs at all. A lot of people are grossed out by it.
Squeeze it a bit before taking a bite so the roll or muffin starts absorbing some of the goo.Just a bit though or the goo might ooze out onto your clothes or dribble down your chin.
The catch is - I don't know about you, but I used to get them on my way to work occasionally. That means that they really continue to cook at bit as you walk out with them, so by the time you sit down at your desk in happy anticipation, less likely to be runny.
State of New York have high standards of the grades of there meat by products. Do not worry. It is not like prison food which is grade D or less in various states.
so I guess that means you like raw ("rare") steaks too, right? ill!
uncivilized and savage.
