If you find out that there is a sex offender living in the same compound, would you rent there anyway?
I found a nice apt but I also found out that there is a sex offender living in the same plaza. A couple others who live a few blocks away.

This is the first time I encounter something like that so I am not sure if I should proceed.
If you guys have any experiences, share with me, please. My guess is I think it should be fine but I'd love to hear from others.

thanks in advance!

You can look them up and see exactly what type of sex offense they committed. They could be into going after little kids and not women, so it depends. You might not necessarily be their target. Just being honest.

First I would search a handful of other random addresses and see if I found the same approximate results. The first time I checked a few addresses, I was stunned to learn there are registered sex offenders pretty much everywhere in NYC. For me it wouldn't be worth worrying about unless I had children.

If you go on the sex offender registry they are everywhere. It's hard to avoid not living close to one in a big city.

I checked once and there is one in my development but not in my building.

Then again, I'm a forty something man so I'm pretty sure no sex offender will have anything to do with me anyway.

Do you know what type of offender this person was? That can make a difference.

the guy who would be " my neighbor" is

a sex offender

Date of crime : 1997
Victim Sex: female, 28 years.
Offense Description: Sexual intercourse, sexual contact.
Forced used: coercion, threat, immediately and physically overpowered.

there are a couple of others a few blocks away but I am concerned about this one because he is basically is in the same building.

LOL. I have a friend who lives on 72 st between Park and Lex and when I showed her on a sex offender app that there were a few sex offenders in her immediate neighborhood her first reaction was that they must be doormen. Then I reminded her that the doormen and others who work in the neighborhood don't live there so they wouldn't be registered there.

You live next to drug users and other criminals you may not know about.

I would, after a sit down with the offender telling him they'll never find his body if he messes with my family.
