They moved in decades ago and it's rent stabled so imagine a 1% increase every year to a 400.00 a month 1 bedroom. It'll take centuries before it rises to market rate.
Can you imagine how much we'd save if our rent was only $100.00? Try to see it in that context.
It's sad because when 1 person does something, it impacts everyone else. Like I said, they could be carry bed bug babies on their clothes when getting on the subway, rub against another rider in rush hour and he/she takes it home for another infestation to start growing.
LOL at people thinking its a social economic problem. I can name a few $4000 1br high rises in midtown west, uws and tribeca that has had lots of bedbug problems.
Anyone can get bed bugs, but in this instance it is a social economic issue because there shouldn't be 5 people living in a studio illegally and because they do not make enough money, they can't afford to spend it to pay an exterminator. That's why in this instance it is a social economic thing. Plus, they're so illegal that they can't educate themselves on what it is.
The tenants told me they thought it was a roach or an odd looking beatle.
I agree that high rises at 5K a month do get them, but the difference is those people can afford an exterminator. Hence my comment about it being a "social economic " thang. Got it gurrrl?

I asked before - did you have bedbugs too?

I got them this summer from the moving company. We moved to a new place in Washington Heights and the movers were from Bay Ridge. The must have had the bugs on them or in the truck because a few weeks later we had it.

They may have already been inside your new apartment, or they may have crawled from a neighboring apartment into yours once they sensed there was new blood in there (they are attracted by the carbon dioxide when you breathe).
