Going off topic but I would like to suggest not being passive aggressive after you guys can't close the subway doors because of obnoxious clowns trying to force their way on. It's bad enough to put up with them and another to hear a yell from you guys three times in a row at every stop of the station.
Thomas J, I thank you too. You advice reminded me a of a photo the doctor showed me when I went for the physical at Livingston St. A Chicago Transit Authority train car resting on an escalator at the O'Hare Airport station after it derailed
I appreciate your advice and will take it with me to schoolcar.
Schoolcar is indeed 6 months. There is additional training for OPTO (shuttles) and CBTC (L Line), but that came later for me.
After about 2 months, you'll start posting in the yards to become familiar with yard moves. You'll also post on each line, and each shift, with road jobs. You'll be supervised by senior train operators.
My Schoolcar started on March 16, 2009, and ended on Sept 2. Yard and station switching jobs started the next day. My first road job was Sept 20.
Enjoy Schoolcar. It was one of the great experiences of my life, and possibly the best time you'll ever have working at the MTA.
Can anyone confirm if the train operator training is 6 months as they say? Thanks.
Yes it is for B division. It was when I went through it , it might even be longer now. There is another thread here that starts "Took the MTA train operators exam..." which has been going for several years with a lot fo posts. Check that one out. Good luck.
