I saw it on the "news" but not in person. Why do people behave like such jerks? I wonder what happened before the woman started hassling the tall guy in the jacket who eventually ended up slapping her?

She also smacked him in the back of the head before he smacked her face.
More people acting nuts in the subway, a regular occurrence. I think long term seasoned riders don't pay much attention to the sensationalism of fights, puking, peeing and other unpleasant things captured on camera phones.
I spent a few days in the Mountains out West recently and combined with time off did not ride for 10 days. It was Joy. I must say that. Today I head home from work with a woman yelling gibberish and making faces near me. Seen it all before.
Good ending. Wouldn't have made the news, except that on of the DN's own reporters stepped up & got involved. Newser helps take down violent subway rider - NY Daily News
Anyone arrested on NYC mass transit should be banned from using subways or buses, or even stepping foot on any MTA property. Let them walk, ride a bike, or take the dollar vans. The exercise & fresh air of the first two, or the funk of the latter, may clear their minds & change their attitude.
