So being busted with weed may now just get you a ticket, instead of an arrest. Of course the alleged pothead still has to show up for court or else get an arrest warrant issued and end up in jail.

Supposedly it's just a violation, equivalent to a traffic offense.

The rules governing Marijuana are complex. Also, this is a little known fact, the sealing on a conviction, after three years, is the same as an ACD. Criminal Procedure Law Section 160.50 indicates that a marijuana violation is fully expunged after three years and the sealing is the same as a dismissal, ACD, acquittal, etc. Very few people know this.
