How y'all doin?

My daughter is in her second year in NYC, young professional in the film biz, doing very well.

She wants a tote bag for Christmas, one big enough for her MAC, but she is climbing the big city sophistication ladder, so it has to be sophisticated, too.

My younger, fashionista daughter, gives thumbs down to anything I can call up on the inter-web. Time is getting short.

Anyone have a recommendation for sophisticated tote bag for NYC 24 year old?

Thanky, thanky

LLN

What's your budget? These types of bags can range from $200-$2500. Yes, they are people out there who spend 2K on a piece of leather that's cut and stitched into the shape of a bag.

Expensive bags are a smart investment compared to other things. You can raise cash for them real quick on e-bay.

It's a gift for a daughter. You think she's thinking, "buy me an expensive bag, so I can sell it on Ebay for less than what you paid."

*sigh. It's like this forum is plagued with people who always want be right and argue.

You're the one that doesn't know anything about handbags.

You probably have a JanSport backpack and a cell phone holster.

Longchamp or Chapelier are the usual choices. There is a sort of divide there, though, so you would need to know.
If you are shopping in person you could look around at Henri Bendel. Although it has gone mightily downhill in recent years. Do they even sell bags anymore.

Louis Vuitton Neverfull (although they do fill up)- yes very expensive, but they will last for years which is more than I can say for the Longchamp or Chapeliers. And, if your daughter ever is in need of cash, they have pretty good resale value...
