DeBlasio has his own plan for NYC, and America. To his credit, he is very open with his agenda.

If you are a beneficiary of his vision, I am sure this is great. If you don't believe in things like open borders, a welfare state, and restraints on capitalism, he and gov cuomo have made it very clear NY is not a place you are welcome - they've said almost those exact words.

PBA is a politically motivated militant organization. It's not impartial, or fair in it's advocacy. He has no business putting forward this outlandish petition. They pulled a similar stunt when Dinkins created CCRB. They lost their s*** because of that which spurred that angry mob outside of City Hall in 1993. De Blasio can pay officers handsomely and still you will have Lynch in front of a podium upset that the mayor isn't "supportive" of the NYPD.

What Lynch wants is for the mayor to blow kisses and tell him how right they always are even when they are wrong at times. The police officers are losing that privilege and that is why he is coming out with these ridiculous statements. And those of you who agree with Lynch are apathetic to any nuance discussion surrounding you rights as a citizen and policing. I'd be sympathetic to the PBA if they were upset about something like no retroactive pay or healthcare costs but it's not. It's all politics.

The same man who hired Bratton (meaning no real change in the police) and the same man who sells NYCHA projects to developers is a believer in a welfare state?

Any person who thinks there is a real difference between Democrats and Republicans at this point is ridiculously naive. It's all about the money. Gentrification continues at a breakneck pace in NYC under de Blasio. Cuomo is no different.

Some of the people on this forum are nursing home delusional.

Basically what Pat Lynch and other bad cops are doing here is projecting towards de Blasio their scorn for the protesters and the public outrage. Note the not so subtle phrase "show police officers support and respect" - it's obvious they are being defensive. So why don't they aim their comments directly at the public? Would doing such a thing trigger something that would make them uncomfortable?

You'd be hard pressed to find a cop (especially one with kids) who is complaining about the protestors. This Christmas, NYPD households are going to be the happiest they have ever been! I know cops who are praying the protests continue well into next year!

I guess the idea of showing some respect for the mayor hasn't occurred to Lynch.

There's Pat Lynch right there. When he was talking about showing cops support and respect, he didn't mean the mayor's advice to Dante.

Trying to dispute that is absolutely insane. What does his choice of police commissioner have to do with welfare? His exact quote in his mayoral blueprint was that 'providing basic income and shelter is the responsibility of gov't.' So what else? He removed the requirement that able-bodied individuals look for work in order to receive gov't assistance. Despite making sense to any sane individual, mayor called it an ideological hang up. What else? He called the 1.9 million people, or 21% of the population receiving welfare about 'a quarter of a million people too low. Oh what else? He removed the previous requirement of welfare recipients to be fingerprinted, so as not to stigmatize them. His education czar said that all school students should receive free lunch so as not to stigmatize those that needed it.

Oh but wait - he picked bill Bratton as PC - he can't be a welfare mayor??! And that's not even touching on his communist-esque redistribution strategies.

Yes, what Lynch is really doing is targeting voters - by extension they are represented by the mayor and speaker. However, he does not want to retaliate against the public directly because he is afraid of aggravating the outrage, so he takes aim instead at de Blasio.
