Best town/borough closest to Manhattan but reasonable commute to White Plains (Dobbs Ferry: purchase)

background info, gf and I live in Dobbs Ferry right now. i work in purchase and sometimes in midtown, she in White Plains. we really dislike Dobbs. not sure what it is but it is just...strange. yes, a few decent restaurants but otherwise DEAD.

she has no interest to live in Manhattan and wouldn't make sense commute wise. i love being close to the city and would like to be even closer than we are now. I am assuming Bronxdale and Riverdale would be our best options?

rent budget is around $2000 for a 1BR.

Didn't you already ask this earlier? Best places within NYC are areas in Manhattan and the Bronx along the metro north.

If you want to ask about towns in Westchester county, the Westchester board would be a better place.

i think i did but couldn't find original thread. westchester board is dead and there are enough people here with knowledge of both areas...
