All long Broadway you see the major gentrification in Washington Heights and Hamilton Heights. Columbia University plays in a role in this, as there is an expansion of Columbia Medical School, and Columbia is now constructing it's Manhattanville campus.
So there's already a base of young people in the area, and they are opening up more of the times of businesses to serve them (certain bars and restaurants). And there are a lot of comparatively cheap ethnic restaurants, but this is going to be true of most NYC neighborhoods.
There are substantial renovations going on in both Hamilton Heights and Washington Heights as well.
They got a lot of things better than us, but they don’t got as many good jobs and there aren’t a lot of good east asian restaurants or much in spicy food. Unlivable.
No the hell it's not o think Harlem deserves that title, even Astoria and LIC. Washington Heights feels like the Bronx to me.
