The weather announcements from the app downloaded on everyone's smartphones kept flashing 20 - 30 inches up until very early this morning.

9 inches was reported in Forest Hills, Queens and 11.5 inches at La Guardia Airport. But I agree that the blizzard conditions were only in Long Island (Suffolk County) and there was an over-reaction in NYC.

I don't think there is more than 6" here in The Bronx.

Long Island was supposed to easily get over 2 feet.

Yeah this storm turned out to not be that huge but imagine if it did play out as forecasted and proper precautions were not taken? It would have been a disaster! Weather is unpredictable. Some areas were hit harder than others and that's usually what happens. The officials jobs are to prepare for the worst and that's exactly what they did.

Where I live in BK isn't too bad. Maybe 6-8 inches. My office is open and we are encouraged to use out best judgement for coming in. With what I think will be unpredictable subway service, I'm working from home.

By noon today there will be a Sunday service schedule for the subway. Full subway service will be ready for tomorrow/Wednesday morning.

does anyone know how many times the plow comes along on the sidestreets in the outer boros? Im wondering if it pays for me to even shovel my car out today only to find snow piled up next day from the plow.
