I've been thinking seriously about moving my family up to NYC for awhile now. Unlike most people that move to NY from other parts of the country nothing is a sticker shock to me here, except for rent. Food is cheaper, public transit is cheaper, clothes and shoes = CHEAP, and from what I've researched utilities are cheaper too.

My question is within the boroughs where could one find a 2 bedroom for $2000 or less?
I've all over most of the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn and even the hoods aren't that bad too me except Brownsville. What about upper Manhattan above 110th?

There's tons of places that gave 2 bedrooms for under 2K. Have you tried Flushing, Woodside, Elmhurst, or Forrest Hills?

Also, places in Manhattan above 110th street are all under 2K. Especially when you go further uptown, you can find a huge 2 bedroom for under 2K. The trade off about uptown is that you might not be in a Caucasian neighborhood. If that doesn't bother you than know that cheap rent is all that's available uptown.
