This just illustrates again how not in control we are. We think we are and that is why we worry sometimes. We think we can influence outcomes much more than we actually can. It's sobering isn't it?

Ever watch racing? Car crashes happens behind you when you are the leader.

I've seen a lot of crap happen behind me because I get ahead.

bluedog2, This detailed account he gave most likely occurred in what..15 seconds.

Most people would freeze in place instinctively at first. So little time does not allow for contemplating ones actions with a 2nd chance.

Yes, it probably plays in slow motion in his head. But he knows she's not on the tracks, and he thinks she's going to back up. And then she didn't.

It's amazing how connected we all are. One person being in one place at a specific moment sends out ripples that change the world forever. It's unbelievable how many lives were changed last night - or every night for that matter.

Yes, you are right but he is the one who will always be asking himself if he could have done something to prevent the tragedy.

Southern Star"It's amazing how connected we all are."

True. I was a Tn resident on vacation in my native Ct when Sandy Hood happened. I had no idea-I was at an eye surgeons office for a follow up/checkup. Our Admin Asst called from Tn to check on me (not knowing I was 35 miles from Newtown). She was sobbing, her voice trembling, and she knew no one from the region the school was in.

So I suspect trauma over this is not limited to NY residents by any means. Or even eye witnesses.
