I've been COBRAing my health insurance through a former employer. But my 18 months is running out, so I'm looking for a plan.

Some of the plans in the NY marketplace look okay, but I'm looking for some independent reviews. Does anyone know of a site that specifically review these. I googled and didn't see anything.

Alternately, do you have one of these plans? If so, who, what plan, and do you like it?

Any help appreciated.

Really? That was the one I was interested in. Then I read a bad article about them. But it was back from early last year, when all this first fired up.

Some of the Emblem plans are underwritten by HIP and not GHI. I have been told by some medical professionals that HIP is one of the worst/most restrictive plans. So if you're looking into Emblem, just check to see who is underwriting it.

HIP either became Emblem, or was bought by them. My mother was a charter member of HIP back in the '50's. I had to deal with it for years. I wouldn't touch them (or let them touch me) with a ten foot pole.

The only PITA my parents have had is that sometimes a plan (like Emblem, which I think they have) has all different kinds of "subplans" I guess. So your doctor might take this type of Emblem but not that type. You need to be very specific when you inquire as to whether or not a doctor takes a plan.

Otherwise, they haven't had too many issues---prescriptions are pretty cheap, co-pays aren't too bad and they get their plan for a decent price because they're low income.

If you are on EMBLEM, check your credit cards for fraud.

Obamacare is an overcomplicated mess. I sympathize with anyone who has to wade through it.

I thought the new data breach thing was Anthem, not Emblem. Are they connected in some way? I don't have Emblem anymore, but I did, and it was not a pleasant experience.

What are you using now, is it though the state marketplace, and how do you like it?

Sorry Henna,
You are correct.
I am Blue Cross (Medicare Advantage) so I get Anthem and Emblem mixed up.
