This is not always true, and certainly not necessarily so. And with TIL co-ops, for example, well ... there are a lot of similarities, often, in terms of world orientation.

Second, and on the other hand. If she was given the opportunity to own she might have a very different attitude. But those opportunities are few at this point.

Only thinking of herself and how much she can game the system... 58 years of experience doing it.
LOL, except, a poor young woman [and presumably single which is the depiction you're trying to make] wouldn't be on a waiting list for a newly renovated Harlem unit.

I assure you that they are and the lists are growing.
It is anyone making around $30,000-ish - $50,000 who is out in the cold. Many of the "lists" are for less income than that. When figuring income, by the way, benefits and so on count.

Oh please. Because when she leaves this apartment is gonna go to someone young and poor with 2 sons. Sure.

that doesn't apply here at all.

And they have already offered her a TWO bedroom elsewhere in Harlem. I presume a 2 bedroom in much better condition.

Had I been in her shoes, i would've taken the two bedroom apt.

I really hate the sense of entitlement some people have

The rent she's paying would buy her a market value apartment of that size literally nowhere in the United States, what she's doing is not a "protest against gentrification"

Do you have the article?

She was a scrub she wasn't fighting gentrification she was fighting for greed. A selfish woman taking up a 4 bedroom apt for herself in a building falling apart.

How much do you want to bet she's illegally renting out three of those bedrooms? You don't stay in a crappy old moldy building for no reason. "Gentrification" is not a reason when you were offered better housing elsewhere. She probably is pocketing over 2K a month tax free. Which also explains why she isn't working. Look at her, she's so lazy she can't even shave her beard!!

Thank God I'm out of Harlem.
