I'm sure some of the players on the Knicks roster are playing for roster spots and/or fighting for their NBA lives. For some, it may amount to the difference between making a roster as a 10th man/garbage time player (and probably earning at least $500K a year or more) or being out of the league earning a salary of $30-$40k if you're lucky. It's not that easy to tell them just tank, these players have alot on the line. Kind of like preseason NFL, the guys fighting for the last roster spots play the hardest while the established stars (Brady, Mannings, etc) play one series and call it a day.

Even Timofey Mozgov made a decent contribution in the right system/right situation (LeBron has a way of doing that).
It's not just about finding talented pieces, it is getting the most out of them, something the Knicks have been unable to do since JVG was the coach. Look at guys like JR, Shumpert, and Lee, former Knicks who played in the finals and made contributions. The Knicks just don't develop these guys! I wouldn't be shocked if Hardaway Jr turns into a solid starter in teh NBA now (not an all-star, but a solid player).

I heard Melo expresses his dislike of the guy the Knicks drafted which is a joke since he is not even a real franchise player.

So by your comment we take it you mean good riddance to the pastimes and joys of the lower-middle and working classes. This is in favor of things that appeal to the wealthy and Bougie classes.
