I am a student from Ireland and my friends and I are thinking about moving to New York for the summer. A lot of people have recommended East Hampton as a place to stay for the summer. However, I must admit that I have no idea what these places are like. I was just wondering what is East Hampton like as regards crime and is there a lot of Irish people there? Also is it hard to find work and accomodation???
Thanks

East Hampton is a very, very expensive beach town that is hours from New York City. There are a lot of young people from outside the US who find summer jobs there but I don't know how many are Irish or if they have a decent place to live anywhere near East Hampton. It's not known as an Irish place. A lot of wealthy people from the New York City area go there in the summer and it's become so expensive that the people who lived there when it was not so popular with celebrities are having a very hard time staying.

Actually East Hamption, Montauk and all the other towns in the vicinity are mainly summer residences and torrist towns. Very nice and safe. Many Irish guys and gals in the area working in the Pubs, bars and restaurants during the sumer months. I don't know where they stay but if you can swing it, you will have a blast of a summer.....
