I wonder if there is any way that we can minimize the amount of noise caused by ambulance and fire trucks - how much of it is necessary? For instance if there is a traffic jam and no one is moving there must be a better solution for an ambulance or fire truck to pass through other than just blaring their sirens at deafening levels. What about the people living in the area? Couldn't we have perhaps a rider with the ambulance and fire trucks that gets out and assists drivers to move out of the way? Wouldn't that be quicker as well?
After all these years and all this technology your telling me there's no way to get some quieter jack hammers? What about setting up a sound proofing tent around the job? Why do we all have to hear this deafening noise?
How come cars and trucks with broken mufflers aren't given tickets for noise pollution? How are they passing their inspections!?
Ever cross the street and have a car that's turning wait for you meanwhile the car behind the one waiting starts honking? What for? They should be ticketed. Create a noise quality control team and have them set up at a different location each day and grab these offenders!
Why is everyone putting up with the noise? Its horrible!!
If you want to live in a big, dense city, you're going to have to put up with noise. That's just the way it is. It can be toned down a little bit, but only so much.
The city is experiencing 'Learned Helplessness'.
If your not familiar with it look it up. Your sure to think twice next time you walk by a jackhammer, or the ambulance stuck in traffic.

What about the people living in the area? It's a city. We expect it. Couldn't we have perhaps a rider with the ambulance and fire trucks that gets out and assists drivers to move out of the way? No. That's ridiculous. It would increase payroll by at least a third, and do you really think people will listen to a person over a siren? Wouldn't that be quicker as well? A person getting out of an Emergency Vehicle and asking multiple cars, "Would you kindly get move out of the way?" (and the possible ensuing argument/ect.) is faster than a blaring siren?
After all these years and all this technology your telling me there's no way to get some quieter jack hammers? *Falls off chair laughing!* What about setting up a sound proofing tent around the job? $ Why do we all have to hear this deafening noise? Because it's a city and we have noise
How come cars and trucks with broken mufflers aren't given tickets for noise pollution? Police are busy doing more important things. How are they passing their inspections!? Payola.
Ever cross the street and have a car that's turning wait for you meanwhile the car behind the one waiting starts honking? It's New York City. What for? It's New York City. They should be ticketed. Nah. Create a noise quality control team and have them set up at a different location each day and grab these offenders! You pay for it, OK?
Why is everyone putting up with the noise? We're not whiny sissies. Its horrible!!

Winter is long gone and the weather is getting slowly warmer meaning more and more people are going to be outside which is a bad recipe for noise. You will hearing more planes flying over, more emergency and police vehicles responding to incidents, more construction noise, more repair noise, more people blasting their music from cars. What you do? Move back to the burbs.

If you are living in a noisy area, maybe you should move somewhere quieter. There are plenty of areas in the outer boroughs that are extremely quiet.
