There are a lot of tracks everywhere.

Actually come to think of it, deBlasio is brilliant. He gets them to overwhelmingly support him and vote for him, and in turns, ends up pricing them all out. That's his plan to end the tale of two cities. People move out there because it is affordable due to long commute times. Soon no more.

I doubt he's having much of an effect on housing prices. Biggest thing that could stem the growth of housing costs would be to increase the housing supply.

They can reopen the Lower Montauk LIRR branch as a subway connecting Jamaica, Ridgewood, Long Island City and maybe even Williamsburg. They stopped using it for passengers not too long ago. Now it mostly just moves trash off Long Island.

Why would you have your doubts that housing prices will increase? Do you even see what is going on out here for any neighborhood with decent subway access these days?

BTW...if they did turn the Atlantic ave LIRR into "super-express" subway service, I'd use it weekly. That's assuming they let it stop at Woodhaven.

Are there actual plans/proposals to reopen the Woodhaven stop? Seems pretty sensible since the J/Z and A train in those stretches look like they'd take forever.

Both the J/Z and the A are about 30 - 40 mins to the first respective Manhattan stop. Not so bad. Door to door for me is about an hour to Woodhaven from Lower Manhattan. Usually a little less.

Duh! De Blasio had many meetings with real estate developers before his election. He is actually quite close to the industry.

And yes poor people in places like ENY have already expressed fear of de Blasio's development plans for that neighborhood.

First the city has to do an engineering study on reopening the line. Then they can take more concrete steps.

And now the working class people in East Flatbush. De Blasio wants them relocated out of Brooklyn. A lot of people got tricked into voting for him. All he's going to do is make living more expensive for them.

I meant convert. The MTA has in its 20 year goals to use other LIRR tracks too. Upon funding they would convert the unused portions of Rockaway Beach LIRR to subway as a way of giving Queens Blvd trains direct access to Rockaways.
