I'm celebrating my 30th birthday in Manhattan next weekend. Where is a good place to party that won't break the bank? I want someplace that plays hip-hop/r&b or even top 40. A lounge is preferred but I'd try a club if it's really that good. Any suggestions?
Morroco's (Harlem ) which is like a club club , usually have well known dominican singers there on the weekend.
Negro Claro ( Washington Heights). Also lounge/ more club which plays the kinds of music you will like .
LQ's is also fun..although this is the Upper East Side and could be pricey ( drinks like 14$ each) and cover , parking , etc.
If you go on Dykeman ( uptown) around the 200's ... you will see several bars / lounges / etc in this area. Its' like a strip. And you could choose from there.
I think parking is cheaper and easier to find uptown ..and has a real " latino" flavor versus alot of the clubs in "downtown" which caters more to white people I think .
If you like to dance to 90's hip-hop, r&b, and reggae I'd say check out Bob's, be warned its very tiny, and gets crowded, but the music is great, drinks are reasonably priced, you'll dance the night away
La Linea on 1st avenue is great, they have a huge screen in the back that play videos of the songs the DJ is mixing, and the DJ does a great job of mixing different tracks.
I second BOB's if you like that basement packed feeling. Rubbing all up on other people and dancing lol I almost got into a fight there once cause a guy didn't like the fact that there wasn't space and felt that he needed me to scrunch more into other people and leave him space.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have heard of Marquee before. Has anyone been there? Is it pretty good and easy to get into? I definitely don't want to spend my birthday night waiting outside forever. I'll look into some of the other places that were mentioned as well
Turtle bay In midtown I think around 50th is a 2 story bar/club. Downstairs is more of a bar scene and upstairs is the club. Def a good time and loads of taxis outside when your done
