Upcounty Passaic is almost rural. The people there have problems with bears, not gangs. And isn't Short Hills in Essex? I'd like to live in a ghetto like that.

I'm just saying I wouldn't use the word ghetto, for Newark or anywhere else, because of people's constant misuse and fear of the term. I'd also say that only parts of Newark are a "ghetto" or whatever you wanna call it. I think we're essentially on the same page though

Bergen: $84k
Monmouth: $80k
Union: $69k
Hudson: $58k
Passaic: $58k
Essex: $55k

Union County QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau
All of those median household incomes are above the national figure, which is just over $53,000.

I don't know who voted Nassau.

It's probably the most expensive suburban county in the entire region and soon, there will be another tax reassessment bringing the taxes even more sky-high.

I would only recommend Nassau to the super-rich or those happy with spending $550k on an ugly small crumbling 1950's crap box with $15k taxes.

Plus, the NIMBY attitude of most residents destroys any kind of economic growth/development and as a result, most of the younger educated demographic plan to leave.

Easily the worst traffic in the region. Truckers dread having to drive on LI because they know it probably won't go well. God forbid you have to commute.

It's a very very backwards place for somewhere bordering NYC...Like its own world

What is the most elite area to live in Westchester County? Isn't Yonkers kind of ghettoish?

Agreed. Nassau is a ****ty older version of Queens with higher taxes nowadays. I think those Levittown rentals are still there too lol.

Really? Where do you live in Brooklyn exactly? I think the quality of life (at least for my family) is decent.
