Hate the FDR, so many pot holes/craters, something needs to be done about it, also not a fan of the Major Deegan, and Cross Bronx, insane traffic. The most fun I've ever had on a roadway is on the Taconic, even though it's not a NYC roadway.
The Jackie Robinson parkway had much sharper turns before it was modified when it was the Interboro over 30 years ago. Going under Queens Blvd. eastbound is still a challenge to stay in lane.
And they just started construction on it again last week or so. Lets see what they can do to to straighten it out and/or make it wider. It must have originally been meant for horse and carriage or something.
I like the belt around Bay Ridge for VZ views, and the view of Manhattan on the Gowanus going towards the Battery Tunnel at night for city views, also the BQE under the promenade in DT BK which is just amazing.
Least favorite is the SI Expwy, it was built in a different time and cannot facilitate current traffic, also the never ending construction and the fact that exits keep changing places SUCKS.
I'm not too fond of the BQE either, but that skyline view in Brooklyn Heights is amazing. I have yet to really drive on many Bronx highways so I can't comment on them too much. I don't think I've ever been on the infamous Cross Bronx.

First time I drove on that highway I almost hit the wall turning the corner near the underpass. I was a new driver at the time and ignored the 25mph sign right before the turn. On many roads even if it says 25mph on a turn, doing even 60 would still be ok, but not that turn. Luckily I was on the right lane and only skidded onto the left lane with no other cars there.

That section is way too narrow. SUVs and vans always take both lanes. I try to avoid taking the Jackie whenever possible, even though I live right by it.
The lanes on that highway really should be much wider.
Henry Hudson Parkway, totally. Cross the arched bridge over Spuyten Duyvil Creek and ride down the Hudson into Manhattan with sweeping river and city views. And usually not bad traffic.
I know it's NYC, but The Saw Mill is my favorite and the 87. In the Fall, the foliage is incomparable.
