Staten Islander here, too. I was 13. My parents went out to dinner and it was the first time they left me home alone, LOL! But Mom's best friend, who sat us as we were growing up, lived next door. We just hung out in front of the house and listened to the radio.
This should be an interesting trip down memory lane for some of us and maybe an eye opening show for those who think they yearn for 1970's NYC. Sounds like there will be lots of 70's street footage.

Housesitting in Chelea (15th St.) for the weekend and we had friends over playing bridge.
Lights went out and we stumbled our way to the street 6 floors down and we headed down 6th Ave to the Village. Spooky with no traffic lights.
Atmosphere was festive, no violence, not as much as a single fight or broken window.
The bars were mobbed and the beer was still cold and the candlelight was nice.
That was Friday.
Things got gloomier by Saturday with no indication of how we were going to get back to Jersey City.
As I recall, by Sunday night the trains started running again.
We were shocked to find out about the rioting and looking in other parts of the City. For us it was just a nice, if HOT party.
