I don't find NYC drivers any more rude than elsewhere. I'm sure if you take a bunch of drivers from another state and pack them into narrow streets with poorly maintained roads and lots of traffic, they would behave similarly.
I think out of state drivers have this attitude that they have to out New York drive the New York drivers or that hey, it's NYC and it's permissible to let their inner a**hole out.
Well, the general rule is "time is money, get out of my way."
On a semi-related note, I've been to LA many times. Some of the drivers here in NY are rather tame in comparison. Don't forget people, for the most part, are forced to drive out there.
I'm a new driver and I take driving seriously, I have kids on the car. I can't understand why there are so many rude people driving in the highway and local streets. Can anyone here relate or tell my just why?
Best Regards!
I personally think some of it is intentional anti-social behavior. They feel power behind the wheel and act out to make up for deficiencies in life. I live in Brooklyn and have never experienced such dangerous and bad driving anywhere else. People here routinely go through red lights and stop signs (honking as they do as if that makes it ok. Like hey I warned you.). They speed down residential streets where kids play. There's no value for human life.
For all the complaining in here you know what's worse? The guy who's going 5 mph ahead of you for a couple blocks then when he approaches the intersection he crosses just as the light turns red leaving you behind
