Living in the east of Brooklyn for such a long time and traveling into neighboring neighborhoods in Queens for such a long time. Woodhaven is underrated along with Richmond Hill (north). Richmond Hill (north of Atlantic Ave) is another interesting neighborhood, not to be confused with South Richmond Hill aka Little Guyana which is situated south of Atlantic Ave and it's main street is Liberty Ave.

Woodhaven along with Richmond Hill (north) is safer and cleaner than Cypress Hills (which is hands down the best area in east Brooklyn). Me, being a long time Cypress Hills resident who recently moved to Woodhaven next door.

Woodhaven's population is much more diverse than the neighborhoods in nearby east Brooklyn. I've noticed a larger presence of European or European Americans in Woodhaven (even in Richmond Hill) for example than in nearby Cypress Hills. Who are minimal in Cypress Hills for example. There is a higher presence of Filipinos, Chinese, ect in WH too.

The neighborhood is cleaner or much of the neighborhood is cleaner and well kept in comparison to it's western neighbors.

Dining choices are larger on Jamaica Ave in Woodhaven than in Fulton St in Cypress Hills. Woodhaven even has a Thai restaurant which I tried and like!

There's far less loitering and loudness in WH than in CH. I was so use to getting off on Crescent and seeing large numbers of individuals being noisy and loitering on Fulton St and even on side streets in Cypress Hills, even a few fights breaking out at night here and there. Getting off 85th-Forest Parkway heading north all you see is ppl late night hanging in front of property smoking cigs at most.

Woodhaven (also Richmond Hill) like Cypress Hills has an interesting housing stock but it's greener and safer on the Queens side of Elderts.

That would be a problem though. It means if you use the express lanes northbound you would be stuck until Metropolitan.

Woodhaven reminds me of Glendale and Ridgewood but also Bushwick, Cypress Hills, Sunset Park and Bay Ridge. In the sense of the style of Row houses in these neighborhoods.

Also Windsor Terrace and Ocean Hill. My guess they were all developed during a similar period, sometimes by the same developer.

Cypress Hills is way sketchier than anything in Queens. I've been on Chestnut recently and there is still sofas and garbage lying on the street, I think only South Jamaica and Far Rock are comparable. Woodhaven is middle class and much much nicer.

You could notice the difference between the 2 areas immediately on Elderts Lane.

East Brooklyn is easily the ugliest looking part of New York. South Bronx at least has good looking girls and restaurants, East Brooklyn got nothing
