Woodhaven blvd has now passed Queens blvd. And particularly the Jamaica ave intersection is considered one of the more deadly ones. But you also have the Union tpke, Metropolitan ave and Queens blvd intersections that can't be too far behind.

Woodhaven Blvd surpassed Queens Blvd quite some time ago....and I think Ocean Parkway has as well.

They should just create a bridge that links both ends of the subway together like they have at 31 st and Astoria Blvd. That way you don't even have to cross the street.

On Queens blvd you can cross for free underground at the subway stations. I know you can at the Union, 71st and Slattery/Woodhaven stations. Probably at 63rd and Newtown/Grand as well.

On Jamaica and Woodhaven you'd have to go on the platform to cross.

I do this all the time on Queens Blvd. Wish they would put signs up on Queens Blvd that let pedestrians know they can do this.

Woodhaven Blvd. Has Most Pedestrian Fatalities | Queens Tribune

Not sure it is that Queens blvd made progress or that Woodhaven got worse, but either way it needs to be made more pedestrian friendly.

BTW...most dangerous intersection in all the city is Eastern Pkwy and Utica, I believe.

I used to drive on Woodhaven and Queens Blvd a lot. I rarely see accidents on Queens Blvd because the lights changes too fast. I was on Queens Blvd last week to see my folks and Queens drivers now are so Goddamn slow courtesy of DeBlasio.

Vision33r would have to explain what he/she meant by "death area", but it was used by vision33r to describe a single intersection so that's what I assumed what was meant by "area".

As far as pedestrian safety at Woodhaven Boulevard and Jamaica Avenue, it is dangerous because it's very wide and has a lot of traffic but there are medians where someone could wait if the light changes as they cross. A little alertness and watching out for traffic would probably drastically reduce pedestrian casualties.
