Not on purpose but plenty of people are lost in their own little worlds walking around and inevitably they get in your way. The classic example for me is the person who is in front of you when you are walking into the subway car and they plant themselves right by the door blocking you as you walk in.

This is common in Midtown as tourists often have little sense of urban etiquette. Standing in the middle of the sidewalk to chat isn't much of a problem in Dubuque but it certainly can be on 42nd Street.

Since working in midtown, I notice it a lot more than I did downtown...it's mainly the tourists. But it's so annoying either way.
