where do your parents live though, would it be hard for you to drop off and pick up the baby instead?
I think if we can buy or rent a 2 bedroom apartment, my parents will live with us for a year to help us with baby. Then after 2-3 years, we will have more savings and by then we know the RE market better, hopefully, the price will drop little bit and we can afford 700k-800k house without too much mortgage. In my opinion, it is not a good time to get into the market, even next year. So maybe I will end up renting a 2 bedroom for a few years, then buy a house.

You need to take into account that it can also cost a lot to maintain a house. I'm mentinoning this because I was recently talking to a coworker who was complaining that owning a house costs so much more than they had expected.

Renting is probably a better idea than buying at this point. The outer-boroughs real estate market certainly won't be going up in the short term, and it might even go down.
