today i was walking back to my car which was parked on Bruner Ave between Nereid and Pitman Avenue's.
a guy who looked lily white(the area is mostly W Indian and African American) was watering his lawn and said "hello" to me. ive seen some older Italian looking guys fixing their cars(they looked blue collar-ish) but this guy looked like he could have gone to an Ivy League school
curious, despite all the negative reports about Wakefield, is it possible that a caucasian person might purchase a home in Wakefield, or at least in a section noted for clean streets and some large homes, or does it just not happen?
It could be possible in the long term but I think for the moment most whites would want to buy either in riverdale/kingsbridge or pelham bay/pelham parkway. Possibly Mott Haven if they are speculative. I could be wrong through!

Well, it's not like they're unicorns. They're around as few as they may be.

If you look at the racial make up of the census tracts in Wakefield almost all of them show a 5% or 6% white population so not really surprising that if you walk around an area you will see some here and there.
Also,Wakefield has a great stock of houses so all kinds of people buy there.I know a few NYC teachers( white) who have bought houses up there in the last 5 years or so.
So,to answer your question,it definitely does happen.
imagine living in a home, reaping only the benefits of the home itself, the immediate block of the home and surrounding blocks, but the rest of the area is shot. I wonder, could a person develop some kind of clinical depression living amongst others who are different culturally. im referring to a white person living in Wakefield

Some old school people are still there - there's an old white guy who runs the liquor store on WPR and 219 - I'm sure he's an old-timer from the area.
WPR and 219 is Williamsbridge, a very different neighborhood from the part Wakefield which is east of Barnes.
