I actually love the B train, because it can get me from Kings Highway to West 4th St in 25 minutes when it's running.
I don't see how the 4 or 5 is any worse than any other number line during rush hour. honestly.
I like that this report uses real data, and is sufficiently methodical...but I really don't think the differences between subway lines are that dramatic that you can call a certain one 'the worst'.
You may not be able to single out one "worst" line but there are certainly a few out there that are by and far worse than the other ones. When I used to take the A train in the early morning (pre-rush hour), the wait was so long, sometimes I would consider taking the bus instead.
I dont understand why the B can't go to the Bronx at all hours. It runs from 145th street all the Brooklyn. Only does during rush hours does the B run From Bronx to Brooklyn. Thus making the D fully packed you often have to let a train go by to fit on the train.

I think it has to do with some type of lives don't matter publicity campaign
I agree the 5 train going to eastchester has to be the worse train on earth.. Rush hour express is more like local. It waits for every train to cross before it moves. I sometimes transfer to the 2 and still make it to work before the 5.
During the evening rush hour. The 5 line runs to Nerid ave also, for people going to eastchester this is a major problem because the Nerid ave comes more frequently than the 5 going to eastchester. You could take both trains but in the winter if you have to stop at e 180 might be the worse day of your life. That station is cold..
The R can get pretty bad in terms of not seeing a train for a looooong time during the day. I hate the Q going into Brooklyn after the bridge it's so ****ing slow and painful
add the 2 train to the list. every weekend there's a problem with the 2, or 5 trains. they run those shuttle buses at 149th & the concourse, forget it. sardine central. standing room only.
I'm surprised that the J is #4, but then I don't recall ever not being able to get a seat and this is given getting on at Essex or Bowery in Manhattan. Just the horrendous wait times vs other trains.
B is quick when it's running like another poster said. I used to take it regularly and always got a seat. As for all 3 East side lines I am not fond of any of them. Too crowded, With the 6 being just a bit better.
I try to follow on days off my "No public transportation" rule. Walk everywhere. Until it gets too cold I will continue this. it's actually relaxing and refreshing.
