I am so excited to be in NYC on the same day Pope visits. But I will be driving non-stop crossing Manhattan to attend family union @New Haven, CT.

What will be the best route to cross Manhattan from NJ to CT via I-95N on Friday Sep 26 Pope's visit. Would there be any impact on the Friday mid noon traffic due to detour / route closures ? I will be leaving Fort Lee, NJ @11:30am~12noon by car. And using Google map on the cell phone while crossing Manhattan, hoping that the Google map get the route closure, traffic data in real time.

I like to hear any simple alternate route to cross Manhattan on such traffics.

Thank you.

Sams

Take the Palisades pkwy north to I287 east. Then take the Hitchinson parkway / Merrit pkwy to New Haven. Only a fool selects I95 on a Friday. Traffic will be torturous on the cross Bronx and the rest of I95.

Thanks for all replies. Sorry for the typo its Friday 25, not 26. Actually I crossed the Geo Washington Bridge @11:45 am and no problem of any traffic at all. On the way back on Sunday @8:45am Google map route me thru a faster route and finally when I was crossing the GW bridge a piece of trash the size of a tablet was on fire in the middle of the road and was drifting across the lanes in the wind, and that happened to pass right under my cars carriage while I was crossing at that spot..pretty scary. I had seen tires and debris of rubber and pieces of wood furniture but never seen a drifting fire. I think I smelled gasoline smoke for a few seconds. We were going about 50miles speed and did not see any road work or such going at the spot, still wondering what could have caused that little fire? Any idea?
