Hi all, I posted about this a couple months ago but am looking for anyone who is doing/has done a commute from Manhattan to Manhasset/Great Neck area on Long Island. I live in Hell's Kitchen and currently take the LIRR + bus to my job in Manhasset, but unfortunately it's not working out as well as I had hoped due to my hours. I work from 7am to 7pm, and the bus from my workplace to the train station in Great Neck is infrequent.
Has anyone done this commute driving? I am wondering how bad it would be. I haven't driven since I moved to the city 4 years ago so I am apprehensive. There is also a high chance I will be put on night shift within the next 3-6 months, and working 7pm-7am. Not sure how long that would last for but hopefully not too long. How bad could I expect the drive to be with those hours?
Thanks in advance! Hoping to find someone who has some experience with a similar commute.
When I used to live in Dumbo up until this May, I drove to my office in Great Neck every day. Only took like 25min in the AM, because it was a reverse commute. Going home was bad (like over 1 hr on average, but could get worse). Now I live close to work in the suburbs so its a non issue.
