I saw two women one of whom had a leaf design on her jacket use a device with a wheel to apparently measure the sidewalk on my block. I presume they were from the parks department but not sure what they were doing. Maybe they were looking for sidewalk damage from trees. Has anyone seen this before?

they are probably going to plant trees. they will leave a green sticker on the concrete and weeks later someone will come with a saw and cut the concrete then weeks later someone will come and dig it up, then the tree will be planted and then the persons house or establishment where the tree is planted will HAVE to take care of it.
imagine that?????

At a guess I'd assume they're getting dimensions so they can plot out new landscapes in AutoCAD.

There are already a lot of trees on the block so I don't think they are planting more of them.

The city is replacing some of the sidewalks and street corners with bioswales.
