From the Phase ONE ongoing timetable it seems that it is the STATIONS that eat up all the time.

Yes. Phase One incorporates the tunnel up to 105th Street. So they would need to build the station at 106th Street. The remaining tunnel goes from 110th-120th and I believe I read there is a station shell there so it might not take that much time. From 120th t0 125 and Lexington they would need to drill the tunnel and build the station under Lex and that will likely take the most time. This part of the project will also include provisions for a Bronx expansion should the funds become available one day.

I'd LOVE to explore those tunnels with a good flashlight, high boots and machete for the rats.
