I live in the Bronx, so I'm hoping for a Bronx or upper Manhattan garage if I get on. I know rookies don't have a choice in the matter, but am I likely to be asked to go out of town to Brooklyn and SI often?
Your chances of the BX or upper MN are very high, lower Manhattan is up there too... Brooklyn, queens, SI are extremely rare for new guys... And you will rarely every go out of town to those zones either... You'll go out of town a lot , but mostly within whatever zone your assigned

Ehhh the Bronx west might be the only exception. I started there and the garage are small and guys are making money and didn't want to go to another garage. Used to be nothing but brand new guys from Bronx 1-5 every time we went to Queens and Manhattan
Then I transferred of course and could rarely get hours lol
But yeah you want a dependable car. Even if you go out of town in zone their can be big distances to cover.

Yeah the city should stop hiring privates and let dsny do the plowing. That's what the problem was. But the paper doesn't talk about that. Also as far as new guys waiting to get on everything is just rumors in terms of how much the city wants to hire. The last 5 years we have had 3 to 4 classes of 100 to 125 guys. If i had to guess i would say 300 to 400 will be hired this year. But that's just a guess. You guys will find out soon. Next week is may. And thats when they start to get the hiring ball rolling. Stay tuned!

If you're not in the top 4-500 I wouldn't worry about it too much. Go to Australia for a month in July. You won't get another vacation pick like that for a long, long time lol

Wouldn't mind at all starting off in the BX or Upper MN like Washington Heights.. alot of fine ladies out there.
Guys worrying about what garage they going to. Better worry about getting hired. Put me anywhere as long as I'm wearing the logo. Worry bout a garage later
cannot stress how many guys fail medical/drug test
