Hey all.. I've never posted on this board but I am going through the court officer process as well as we speak and just got my letter for Sanitation pre-orientation for June 5th. I am set on going with Sanitation. City job heavily outweighs state. Am I correct in thinking this?

Don't let total strangers tell you what you should do. You gotta look at the benefits of both. Everyone on here will tell you sanitation is the best. Someone who is a court officer will tell you that job is better.
I would take DSNY. Court officer for a fact u have to do 30 years for a retirement. With dsny it's only 22 years.. best of luck too u
If it's state court officer, you can transfer anywhere in the state and live in upstate NY. Where as I am stuck working in the city for the next 13+ years. Still a hard decision. My ex-neighbor now lives in Rinebeck as a NYS Court officer. He had to wait a while to get the transfer, but he said he will never move back to the city. He turned down Sanitation when he was called a few years ago.
