GOOD Luck everyone !!! I think I'm more happy to have new guys on the job then you lol !!! I don't sugar coat anything here to help in the best way possible !!!
If it's state court officer, you can transfer anywhere in the state and live in upstate NY. Where as I am stuck working in the city for the next 13+ years. Still a hard decision. My ex-neighbor now lives in Rinebeck as a NYS Court officer. He had to wait a while to get the transfer, but he said he will never move back to the city. He turned down Sanitation when he was called a few years ago.
I thought dsny was one of those agency where living in NYC is not require after a period of time ... my plan is to get into a bx garage and commute upstate once I'm at top pay
Just checked the NOE ... Yep after 5 years Orange County is where I'm going
I would take DSNY. Court officer for a fact u have to do 30 years for a retirement. With dsny it's only 22 years.. best of luck too u
Pension favors city over state jobs . But state has better health benefits . And court officer is a sweet job, never met one who wasn't happy with his or her job .
Top pay is also less with court officer and dont count on OT, there is very little and the senior officers take it.
Your right . The ot used to be off the hook for court officers . Now it's dead u less your a vet and don't mind doing side gigs for the judges and such . THeres no argument , dsny is a better overall job for most people . But none the less , court officer is a very sweet gig . No doubt .
To the group going in tomorrow, please let us know when your medical is...
