can anyone tell me the average monthly cost of utilities for a 1200 sq ft loft in the bronx? im looking to rent and the apartment i found doesn't include any utilities.

Does the rent include heat? Most rental properties in NYC do, but be aware that if its a commercial loft they'll probably turn if off during non-business hours and on the weekends. If all you are paying is electric, then you can control that pretty well yourself by not leaving lots of lights on. If you're paying your own heat, it'll add up, though so much depends on the kind of building, what direction it faces, what floor your on, etc. etc.

I live in a 700 sq ft loft in the BX. I dont pay for heat, since the building owner supplies heat/Hot Water. I pay $45 for electricity. Keep in mind that I have an electric stove, so cost is higher that if you only have to pay for electricity for lights, tv etc.

It will also be more in the summer - for A/C. A lot more.

It all depends on how much electricity you need/use....Gas for the stove is minimal. But electricity will cost you.
