i can't seem to escape them. 3 different apartments and they ALL have had them.

Where are these apartments? I lived in Queens for 30+ years and never came across one inside of the house/apartment.

You need to reduce the humidity levels in your living space. Also make sure leaves are raked up outside the perimeter of your building.

i think this is the biggie. tons of leaves everywhere. i live among the trees.

They're not really all that bad. I think they are poisonous to other insects, so if you have them, good chance you don't have roaches.

I saw my first one in 2003, and have seen them in every apartment since. All in Queens.

I am on LI & have them like crazy since Sandy. Hate them! We don't have problem with leaves at all. Being on the water does not help I think. After a big rain like we had recently it was insane. Was killing them at the rate of 4 an hour. They love the dark & tend to come out at night & hide during the day. Nocturnal MF'ers

Interesting, as it sounds like being in an area with lots of trees is a factor. I've spent all that time in Woodside and Sunnyside, close to the 7. There are some trees, but nothing like some other parts of the city.
